BEST OF BEAUTY 2017

I try and buy a lot of products and I do tend to fall in love with them. From skincare to beauty to fragrance and hair care – I have tried it all. Due to that – this post would be so incredibly long if I posted every product I liked (which makes me think I should start doing monthly favorites!) so instead I chose to do a hybrid post to narrow down the amount of products shared here.

I decided rather than listing out a million and one products that I loved this year I would do a Ride or Die/Best Products hybrid post in which I would have to narrow down all of my favorites to one in each product category – so, I’ll choose one foundation, one palette, etc. However, because I am who I am, I will have to have some honorable mentions. The categories from this were taken right from Jaclyn Hill who is the originator of the Ride or Die tag.

Let’s begin!

Face Primer:

I have got to stick with my tried and true favorite and give it to my faithful Becca Backlight Filter Primer – whether I use it as a primer or a moisturizer for no makeup days, this product never lets me down. I can’t even recall how many times I’ve repurchased this now, but just know that I’ve tried the dupes and there’s something about this one that just warrants the price tag for me.

Foundation:

I have to give it to the Huda Beauty Faux Filter – it is as good as the hype would lead you to believe. I’ll do a full post on it very soon.

I have to give a shout out to the Fiona Stiles foundations here though – both of them are absolutely amazing. When Ulta discontinued the line, the foundations went down to somewhere around $7 and I stocked up and let me tell you, it was one of the best shopping decisions I have ever made. I swear by this foundation, however I didn’t add it to first place simply because of how impossible it is to get your hands on.

Concealer:

Of course, I’ve got to give it to Shape Tape – I, much like anyone who’s ever tried it, am in love with this magic product from Tarte. Many have tried to replicate it, but none have come close enough to replace this wonder product for me. Plus, I love that large doe-foot applicator.

Another concealer I have been in love with though is the new IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under-Eye Illuminating Concealer. My only gripe with it is that it does crease, unlike my Shape Tape, but I don’t mind having to rub out the creases every now and again to get such an illuminated Kim K style under eye.

Face Powder:

This year I actually got into powders more and experimented with a lot of them, but just thinking off the top of my head I have to admit that I certainly have been using a cult favorite this year, which is the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder for my nose and every now and again under the eyes. This category also warrants an entire post because as mentioned, I dabbled and dusted a lot of different powders this year.

Under Eye Setting Powder:

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Diffused light – I have bought like 4 of them at this point and use it every single day. If I am ever away from home I am sure to pack this powder with me for lit up under eyes that erase all evidence of how tired I really am. I absolutely swear by it and this is my ultimate Ride or Die product.

Bronzer:

Lancome’s Solaire bronzer is the most amazing bronzer I have ever used in my life. I wore this stuff every. single. day for the entire summer and I still use it frequently (really, the only reason I stopped is because I’ve hit pan) and I keep kicking myself for not re-upping the product because I certainly plan to.

Contour:

I’m bitter that there wasn’t a contour category so I included it just so I can shout out the Becca Lowlight contour powder. I am on my third one and I’ve got my sister hooked on this stuff too.

Blush:

For 2017 the blush that I wore constantly was Lancome’s Rouge in Love. I totally understand that this product is terrifying when you first look at it, I get that it’s really bright. However, lightly dusted onto the cheeks it gives off the most beautiful, healthy look.

Highlight:

IF YOU KNOW ME, YOU KNOW THIS IS THE MOST DIFFICULT CATEGORY FOR ME TO CHOOSE. I live and breathe highlight. It is so hard for me to choose a favorite one but if I absolutely had to, I would go with the Charlotte Tilbury Gold Bar, I used this the most and I get so many compliments on how blinding this stuff is.

Eyelashes:

I love the Ardell #113 lash, which is unfortunately always sold out. But, when I can get my hands on them, I stock up.

Mascara:

Another Charlotte Tilbury product and another that is a repurchase, I am going with the Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Lashes mascara. This gives me a false lash effect without needing falsies if I am out of them or don’t feel like wearing a falsie.

Eyeshadow Palette:

I am going to exclude Modern Renaissance because it was a favorite last year and it’s kind of a given at this point, so I will go with the Morphe Jaclyn Hill palette. I love this palette for bold, neutral, shimmer, matte, whatever look you want.

Lipstick:

This year I loved the Kim K.W. lipstick by, yet again, Charlotte Tilbury. The lipstick formula lasts all day and this super neutral shade goes with any and all of my makeup looks.

Liquid Lip:

This year I wore the absolute hell out of the Too Faced Lady Balls liquid lipstick which is my absolute favorite red lip of all time.

Lipgloss:

The MAC Dazzleglass in Moth to Flame was an absolute favorite this year that I wore over nudes, peaches, oranges, reds, really anything that needed a bit more of a sparkle and a sheen,

Eyeliner:

Didn’t notice an eyeliner category in Jaclyn’s tag either so I added in this one as well: The Balm’s Schwing liner is an unfortunately discontinued item that I wore to death this year, emptying out 3 containers. This liner is super black, super sharp and long wear so I don’t know why The Balm would do away with it, unless they are upgrading the product and re-releasing it.

Eyebrow:

My favorite brow product for this year was Lancome’s Sourcils Gel in Noir. I struggle to find a good, black brow product that gives me the intensity that my jet black hair warrants without giving me Elvira vibes. This totally did it for me – and it doubles as a gel liner in case of emergency.

Setting Spray:

Mac Fix+ isn’t exactly a setting spray but it sure makes my skin look flawless and I don’t think my makeup moves all that much anyone so this does plenty for me.

Perfume:

This one is also really hard to narrow down, but if I had to pick a favorite that I constantly wore throughout the year and that I even paired with other fragrances, then the vote goes to Roses de Chloe by Chloe. This fragrance is the most beautiful rose scent that wears all day. I am infatuated with it and constantly get complimented on it when I have it on. If you don’t like the scent of rose, you definitely won’t like this one.

Those were all of my favorite products for this year! Did we have any of the same favorites? Do you have suggestions? Let’s chat in the comments section below. Thanks for reading!
