What did I reach for the most? What products would I have been lost without? And as I sit here, totally away from my vanity, what products come to mind when I think of the best beauty of the last year? Some products popped into my mind immediately and some categories, such as blush, nothing comes to mind. I have decided to choose just what the best of the best were. With that being said, scroll down to see which products made the cut!
Foundations: Hourglass Immaculate
I recently spoke about this foundation in my Products I’m Thankful For post and although I typically wouldn’t mention it twice, I just have to give it the kudos that it deserves. This foundation is a game changer. I very rarely will empty out a full container of a foundation and with this one, I not only have emptied it out but already bought back ups. If I were to get married anytime soon, I would wear this on my wedding day. That truly is the ultimate compliment!
Bronzer: Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer
I got on the train a little late, but boy am I glad that I finally got on. The Butter Bronzer is so true to its name in that it glides on, is easy to build and makes your skin look buttery smooth. Can we get a Butter Face Powder please?!
Mascara: Bad Gal Bang & Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir
I truly could not choose my favorite between these two. While I have loved and totally used up my Bad Gal Bang, there is just something about the Velvet Noir that I kept me coming back to it and wanting to mention it in my favorites. Both mascaras have lasted so much longer than any other tube of mascara I’ve ever tried. Months after I am sure I am right at the tail-end of my tube, it keeps coming and performing just as good as new.
Lip Products: Kat Von D Lolita lipliner, Fenty Gloss Bomb in Fenty Glow
While Buxom cosmetics makes some of my favorite lipliners on the market, this color from Kat Von D cannot be beat. There are quite few variations of the “Lolita” shade but this one in particular is the one that just says “Lolita” on it. This color is incredible for medium skin tones and looks so natural when worn alone. However, if you want to pair it with a gloss for a juicy moment, then I highly recommend Fenty Gloss Bomb in Fenty Glow. Described on Sephora.com as a “shimmering rose nude” this lipgloss is incredible on any nude, on any liner and on bare lips. I love the formula on this, it sticks to the lips without making your hair and the rest of the planet stick to it as well and I will definitely be trying other colors soon.
The eyeshadow palette that I reached for constantly was the Huda Beauty Desert Dusk palette. It has the warm tones, the cooler tones and all sorts of finishes for looks that are soft and natural or bold and fun.
This was a no brainer for me – I love Ardell lashes. They are so affordable, they are such good quality, and I can and do wear them time and time again. My favorite styles are the #113 and the #250. The #113 is the perfect style for light makeup days whereas the #250 is a gorgeous multi-layered cat eye lash.
These are the products that really helped me throughout 2018 and that I reached for time and time again and some, even purchased time and time again.
