I am excitedly awaiting the arrival of spring, looking forward to playing with prints, pops of pastels, and being able to step out in just a blazer to feel comfortable but with even more snow forecasted for the Portland area next week, spring is still very much a ways away.
Getting quite tired of wearing winter styles, I have been opting for colorful and fun outerwear to add some excitement in my looks. Highlighted in this post, the color-block coat is a fun statement piece that can be worn with monochromatic pieces underneath or styled with like or complimenting colors to add more excitement to an outfit.
I adore this particular coat that I purchased from Shein (formerly Sheinside) a while back and not only am I excited to announce that it is still available, it is now also available in different colors, which I may or may not have my eye on. Keep reading to find out what pieces I styled this with, styling advice, the other color options for this super affordable coat and more.
Whilst on a trip to cold Canada, I styled my coat with a leather pant, a sheer turtleneck with a bodysuit underneath and some black and white Adidas sneakers that I am obsessed with and wear far too often. I personally love styling color-block with monochromatic pieces.
Having had this coat for a while, I wore it back in 2017 in a different monochromatic way, opting for a black ribbed turtleneck and some black and white grid trousers.
This color story is also available with a base color of mustard rather than tan.
The pink and red combination is one of my absolute favorite color combos and in this coat pairing it with gray as the third color is absolutely fabulous. This color story makes this coat an undeniable must have for spring.

This Asos coat is my other favorite color-block coat! Look at that bright blue on that neutral base! This could be styled with all black, all white, a blue pant and any number of neutral tops or vice versa and look incredible. I also love how it is styled here with a graphic tee and checkered pants. Whereas this pairing is a little busy for me personally to want to wear, it’s still a great look.
