I have to be honest – I am dry as a desert, so whenever anything with the words “luminous” or “radiance” come in, I always leap at the opportunity of an oasis.

This is my luminous routine to make my makeup look as dewey, radiant and luminous as possible. I want my face to look WET. Oh what I would do for some oil on my face!

In some cases I consider myself lucky to have dry skin, very few breakouts, no chasing blotting papers and my makeup will stay in one place. However, I have been working on a skincare routine that will work for me to bring some dewiness to my skin. Unfortunately, I haven’t nailed down this skin care routine yet – I’m still experimenting. So today’s post is how to get my makeup to give me the effect of the radiant, luminous skin I’m trying to get.

Now I actually have two different complexion enhancers I use, depending on how much makeup I want to wear. I will either use my IT Cosmetics CC Illumination cream or I will use my Becca foundation if I want full “glam”. This is a full glam routine.

Products Mentioned:

Primer: Becca Backlight Priming Filter

Foundation: Becca Aqua Luminous in Beige

Mix Ins: Mac Strobe Cream and NYX Honey Dew Me Up and Becca Champagne Pop Shimmering Skin Perfector or Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal.

Corrector: Urban Decay Pink and Becca Undereye Corrector

Concealer: Tarte CC in Light

I’ll pause while you read those Mix Ins again.

Yes, it’s that serious.

I like to start with priming just my under eye area and nose with any pore primer (haven’t found a holy grail yet but I enjoy both the Too Faced and the Tarte ones for now) and then for all over the face I like to use the Becca Backlight Priming Filter.

To conceal and brighten underneath foundation I take the Urban Decay Color Corrector in Pink on high points of the face to brighten – and blend out with a beauty blender. The Becca corrector is reserved for under the eyes and tops of cheekbones. For under eye concealer, I am currently loving the Tarte CC Concealer and Corrector in the lighter of the two shades.

Next, I take a half pump to full pump of my Becca Aqua Luminous Foundation and I squeeze a bit of Mac Strobe Cream into it. Occasionally, if my skin feels extra dry or if I didn’t properly moisturize the night before I add the Becca Champagne Pop Shimmering Skin Perfector or the Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal. Then, I take my NYX Honey Dew Me Up (this oil/gel hybrid are said to be a dupe for the Farsali Rose Gold Elixir  which I am dying to try!) and I’ll apply this gel straight onto my foundation brush. Then, taking the foundation brush I mix my foundation and mix ins together on the back of my hand and apply onto my face straight away, starting in the center and blending outwards. I use the brush only to streak the product onto my face, for actual blending I take the beauty blender and buff the product onto my face.

Face Powder is not your friend if your skin is as dry as mine is so I only set my under eyes, and for this I use the hourglass powder in dim light. This brings brightness and radiance to the under eyes, which believe me need all the help they can get.

Then, feeling confident my face will look lit, I go through and get even more lit. Yes, liquid highlight AND powder highlight go on after contour and blush.  I am not playing any games with my complexion people. No games.

To top off my complexion, I douse my face in Tatcha Dewey Skin Mist.

Here it is. This is my routine.  And I understand it is extensive and I understand that it is expensive. However, the end-result is totally worth all of the time and money spent on complexion. I have intentionally left out contour products and blush as those items don’t have much to do with my attempt to get my skin as luminous as possible.

So my tried and tested products are here for you, and listed below I will add two cheaper alternatives that I have tried in the past and loved (btw these may not be cruelty free). Let me know if you try any of these products and if you have any recommendations for me.
