GRWM: Engagement Party

image7

Spending hours doing hair and makeup, getting glammed, fancy hotels; this trip was definitely something I could get used to. However, the glamming must await until the next wedding and in the meantime, come along as I show you how I got ready for my cousin’s engagement party.

Hair

The hair was the only thing I didn’t do myself – we had stylists come to the house and do hair for the major events (see previous post for photos and details)  https://theamberarchives.wordpress.com/2015/03/08/india-2k15/

For this day, I asked for the style Kim Kardashian had for her wedding to Kanye West. It turned out great, if I do say so myself! I loved the half up/tucked-away style for the hair which showed off the bead work of the outfit better. I just love how it turned out!

Of course, I did my own makeup. Keep on reading for a list of products used and step by step instruction on how to get the look!

OOTN: Outfit of the Night

I felt like a Bollywood diva in this stunning grey anarkali outfit from Sham Mall in Chandigarh. Though their pieces are all unique (they don’t keep any two of the same design in the store at once) I would definitely go in to see if they have something similar if you’re interested and live in the area. (you can also order online) I loved the slit at the bottom of the front of the dress, and the fact that the dupatta was small and sheer let all the attention be on the outfit. I styled this with just long dangly earrings and a cluth – the outfit was a statement in itself.

These shoes are also a god send! I had been eyeing them for two months now and finally bit the bullet and purchased them the day before I had to leave for my trip. I loved how dressy they are for a flat – I could easily walk around and dance about in these.

If you want these, I would recommend sizing down half or a full size.

Lipstick: MAC Cyber and MAC Velvet Teddy

Highlight: Any white eyeshadow

Eyeshadow: BH Cosmetics Cool Shimmer 88 Colors Palette

Step by Step

Start off by applying a good base.
Apply concealer in a v-shape formation under the eyes.
Apply foundation.
Apply contour under cheekbones, chin, over forehead and wherever else necessary.
Apply blush of choice, a purple toned one would look great with this cool grey eye and deep lip combo.
Bronze the face if needed.

Eyes:
Start off with a light shimmery color on the lid and brow bone.
Take a deep grey with shimmer and apply from the outer v of the eye inwards. Use a slightly darker charcoal to cut the crease.
Take a peachy highlight into the inner corner and to soften up any darkness.
Apply liner and lots of it.
Curl and apply mascara. Falsies optional.

Fill in the brows, spray your setting sprays, and add any steps you see as necessary.

Below I have the exact colors I used and numbered in the order in which they appear in the step-by-step. Photo from BH Cosmetics.

As for my lipstick, I did a nude base with concealer, applied MAC Cyber and then to lighten up the intensity, applied some MAC Velvet Teddy.
