India 2k15

I know I’ve been M.I.A lately, but I had to be in India for two weeks and while I was there, I celebrated and participated in my cousin’s wedding! I hadn’t been to a wedding, or to India, for a while so I was thrilled to get to go to one again. We dressed up every day, had catered food and got to dance all night long with a Bollywood star!

I enjoyed my time away but it’s time to get back to the real world of school, responsibilities and work. I’ve been back two days and I already find myself reminiscing of spending time with my grandparents and cousins.

So  lets reminisce together!

I’ll be showing you guys quick OOTDs of the outfits I wore for the major events of the wedding. Indian weddings are tons of fun and we go all out on jewelry, makeup and clothing.

#1: Ring Ceremony

This is the equivelant to the engagement party – the soon to be bride and groom will now place the wedding/engagement rings on each other while the whole family celebrates, eats cake, and dances.

The outfit I’m wearing is called an Anarkali – it’s a long dress-like top with leggings underneath and a soft, usually sheer dupatta.

I will not be showing a lot of the pictures for this look here as I will be doing a full on GRWM post for this particular day.

#2: Ladies Sangeet

In this ritual, the women of the family, friends or hired performers will sing traditional songs on various topics pertaining to marriage.

For this day, I am wearing a classic salwaar suit in which I felt very much like Princess Jasmine. All I’d need is a bubble pony and a pet tiger.

#3: Mehendi

This is the day all the women get their henna done! I custom chose my design from a pic off of pinterest, and even got my back done in anticipation of my open-back sari.

#3: Wedding Day

Keeping the pink theme in mind, I’m wearing this Lehenga (which is a two-piece: a crop top and a high waisted maxi skirt) in a bright rose pink with heavy gold embroidery. I’m also wearing a traditional tikka and matching earrings  (these earrings were killing me!)

#4: Reception

I loved this white and gold sari (please dont tell me some of you see black and blue lol) I had never worn a sari before but wanted to give it a go! This was a slightly less conventional one as white is not usually worn for events – however it was so stunning that everyone fell in love with it immediately. I wore it with gold pumps and tons of gold jewelry.

That’s it for now! I’ll be doing a full GRWM for the Ring Ceremony makeup look and you can expect an India shopping haul soon.

Congratulations to the bride and groom! The wedding was stunning & we all had an amazing time. I wish you two the best of happiness and a long, successful marriage. Love you both and thank you all for reading! Hope you’ve enjoyed!
