Products I’m Thankful For – 2016

Happy Thanksgiving and happy holidays!

This post comes to you while I have potatoes boiling on the stove, some garlic roasting in the oven and stuffing cooling off on a counter. I’m surrounded by Black Cherry merlot candles that are the perfect addition to the Michael Buble Christmas album caressing my ears. I can’t help but feel thankful – thankful for my loved one, thankful for my blessings and of course, thankful for this blog which saves me from my daily worries and thankful to all of you who read.

This year I want to bring back a post that I wrote about two years ago which showcased the beauty products that I was most thankful for that year. This year I have definitely fallen in love with a lot of beauty products, but I will narrow it down to the top 5  that have been absolute blessings to me, and of course I’ll be sharing why.

So, in no particular order, let’s begin!

Benefit They’re Real Mascara in Beyond Blue -$24

Ever since dying my hair blue, I’ve been experimenting with putting some blue in my brows as well. This August I started using this blue mascara as a way to add color but also as a gel to hold my brows in place. I’ve been getting compliments on it ever since. I love this trick because I can use as little or as much as I want, I can throw this tube of mascara in my beauty pouch and take it to go (instead of carrying around blue eyeshadow, a brush to apply and a clear gel) and it is the right shade to compliment the blue tones in my hair. This has been an absolute life saver and I can’t go a day without it.

Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme -$28

I must admit, this is something that is a bit newer to me but I was quick to fall for this. This product actually has the same active ingredient as Viagra so it gets the blood pumping!! With the (dare I say it) “trend” of big, plump lips, what’s a girl who isn’t ready to get an actual injection to do? Well, here’s the answer and it’s a mere $28 compared to the typically $600 per syringe of juvederm.

Becca Backlight Priming Filter – $38

My go-to primer, I am currently on my third bottle and show no signs of stopping. This primer is amazing under any and all foundations but is also my favorite thing to apply to my skin even without makeup. Whether it’s a quick trip to the grocery store, a gym session or a relaxing day at home doing nothing, I like to start with applying this to my face to get an even healthy glow to my face.

Available at: Sephora, Ulta,

Hourglass Ambient Powder in Diffused Light – $46

Being so dry, I don’t ever powder my face, but I do like to apply some right under my eyes to set the concealer and brighten. I’ve used up a small one of these powders and it was the first thing on my list for the Sephora Rouge sale. At $46, I wasn’t even hesitant because I know how valuable this powder is to me. The yellow tone of it brightens the under eyes and it keeps my concealer in one place without creasing. I use this product every time I use concealer and love the results I get.

Available at: Sephora,

MAC Pigment – $10-$22

I’ve been experimenting with and loving MAC pigments lately and I’ve especially fallen in love with the shade Tan. I use this mixed into my foundation, as an eyeshadow, to highlight, to place over a brown or dark lip – girl, I use this for almost everything. Given that they are just loose pigments, a little goes a long way. I’ve had the little MAC sized one for about two months now and it doesn’t even look like I’ve used any of it (however I did knock it on the carpet and that is a bitch to clean out).

Available at: Macy’s, Nordstrom, MAC stores and online

Those were my top five products I am most thankful for this year. Though my list could go on and on, these were the ones I felt were special to me and that I’ve been reaching for the most lately.
