REVIEW: TOO FACED CHOCOLATE GOLD BAR PALETTE

Finally, a Too Faced eye product that I love.

I get that it’s trendy to hate on Too Faced nowadays, with the drama regarding Jerrod and his diva behavior amongst other rumors about the brand. None of those are part of the reason that I originally disliked the Too Faced palettes – tbh, the quality just sucked. I bought the original Too Faced chocolate bar palette years ago because of all the YT hype (yes, the one that is in my palette regrets post) and I gave it away because I just never used it. Aside from the Peach palette, all Too Faced eye products have been a disappointment for me.

When I saw the pictures of this product, I was underwhelmed. The colors didn’t appeal to me at first and it just looked like kid’s makeup – which is something Too Faced has been doing lately that just makes me really frustrated with the brand. I insisted to anyone who would bring it up that I will not be getting this palette. Boy, was I wrong.

When I got my hands on this bad boy IRL, it was love at first sight. I couldn’t believe that the palette before me was the same palette from the pictures. The colors looked so different and so much better in person. I swatched a couple of them at random and I knew the palette had to be mine.

Here are swatches of each of the shades from the entire palette:

I did see and hear some people complaining about the amount of shimmers in this palette, but that I don’t mind at all. I am a total fan of shimmers and I think the mattes in here perfectly compliment the shimmers. I do believe this palette would work as a complete palette and could be taken on a trip and still be useful for looks ranging from barely there neutrals to night out glam.

My favorite shades from this palette are Drippin’ Diamonds which is a beautiful foil silver, New Money which is such a unique color for my collection and Gold Chocolate which I absolutely love. I am so glad that the pan size of this is the size that it is because I think its a great dupe for the Fenty Beauty highlighter in Trophy Wife. In the image below I have this all over the lid and as a cheekbone highlight and I think it gives off an incredibly similar look without having to buy the product individually.
