Imagine the hundred liquid lipstick challenge and how that would feel on your lips. No need to imagine, just apply this product.
Waterproof? Yes. Long-lasting? Definitely. Wearable? Absolutely not.
I, just like everyone else in the beauty industry, was super excited to hear of the launch of Urban Decay’s new Vice liquid lipsticks. However, these turned out to be the most disappointing formula of liquid lipstick quite possibly to ever launch.
I ran into work eager to rip open the testers with my best friend Natalie, holding off from the night before so we could open them together. We displayed them all out on the floor and started swatching, literally tearing the box of one. I had previously seen Jeffree Star’s first impression video on them, so my hopes for the metallic formulas was already diminished. I immediately was obsessed with the shade Trivial, a soft pink with a bit of a metallic sheen. In the end, Natalie put on 1993, her go-to shade in the lipstick, and I went for Conspiracy (pictured).
After initial application, I definitely felt like the formula was uncomfortable, but I was willing to live with it for the color pay off and longevity. After an hour, Natalie and I looked at each other, not knowing how much longer we could take it and after a few more, we both had to remove them, no longer able to take it.
The above photos were taken after wearing the liquid lip for several hours, totally removing it, then reapplying and wearing for another 3-4 hours.
PROS AND CONS
- Wide color range which corresponds with existing Urban Decay shades and the launches of new ones, such as Trivial and Trap Queen.
- The formula as a whole.
The application is a tad streaky but with a few coats is totally normal. The feel tho, the feel. Also, if I touched my lips I would get visible glitter flecks on my fingers.
The longevity is certainly there with this product and I certainly give it a point for that. However, it totally settles in the lines of your lips and exaggerates lines and after a few hours, it starts cracking off.
The packaging I quite liked. It was on brand, mixed metals, and the applicator is a standard sized doe-foot.
