RMS Lip2Cheek Review – Diabolique

On the hunt for more makeup as usual, I walked into my local beauty shop, Blush Beauty Bar to find a plum blusher. I first gravitated towards NARS, as per usual but was disappointed in the lack of options in the dark berry sector. The kind man working there showed me an array of products, none which seemed interesting until he brought this – RMS Beauty’s Lip2Cheek cream. Perhaps like most of you, I had not heard of RMS Beauty before. Below is the link to their “About” page – which I actually found both interesting and inspiring.

To sum it up: The creator was a makeup artist who had worked for some amazing brands, but then realized she had some health issues which may have been caused by the ingredients in the makeup she was using. Realizing this, she chose to start up her own line of organic beauty products, and lo and behold: RMS Beauty.

As a whole, their website is very detailed and organized – showing me they are a brand that pays a lot of attention to their products and cares for the ease of their customers.

What It Claims:

Diabolique: A rich burgundy coloring and intense depth make this sultry shade a
must for anyone feeling adventurous.

Our lip2cheek is a unique formula that combines hydration and protection with abundant mineral color for a beautiful, natural finish on both lips and cheeks.

The six lip2cheek colors are the result of over 20 years experience applying makeup to some of the world’s most beautiful faces. Created with nourishing organic ingredients, each unique shade vary from a youthful sheer to more densely colored stains.

Apply sparingly with fingers or brush. Repeat application for a more intense color on lips or cheeks. For more shimmer or a slightly softer color, apply the living luminizer over any lip2cheek color.

For best results on particularly dry lips, apply a light layer of the lip & skin balm before the lip2cheek. This product can also be used as an eye shadow but may not be suitable for all skin types as they will cause creasing in most cases due to the moisturizing oils.

Please note: The pigments are very concentrated so a little goes a long way.

 What it Does:

Color and Application

I have the color here applied softly on the cheek, and built it up on the lips. At first swipe, it goes on rather sheer on the lips, but can be built up to a decent color. I wouldn’t exactly agree that a little goes a long way – rather I find that to be true only for application on the cheeks.

The color of this product is a rich maroon/berry shade (not exactly what I was looking for but pretty nonetheless).  Warming it up with your fingers will give you the best color payoff, however if you want to use a brush I would recommend a stippling brush to best apply this product. I use the Small Stipple Brush from ELF.

I have not used this color for an eyeshadow, particularly because I feel the shade would not do well as one.

I chose not to even include a packaging section as the packaging is very simple, white and pleasing, however perhaps not the best choice for a stain. I do appreciate the screw on cap, which would ensure the inside of your bag stays neat and clean.

Overall Rating : 6/10

Where to purchase it:  rmsbeauty.com

Price: $36

Would I repurchase: No.  At this point, I do not see myself repurchasing the product – and if I do, maybe to try a different shade. However, the price point is a bit too high.
