Hello everyone and happy finals week. Bleh.
On the bright side, I’ve got some new makeup and goodies that I’d like to share with you all. Sephora has launched some fantastic new products this spring and although I tried to stock up as best as I could this Spring sale, there are even more items I’m excited to get – like the Pat McGrath skin fetish! I’m so excited for this palette from makeup legend herself, Pat McGrath, despite the fact that I did get some highlight/glowy things already from the sale. If I do end up picking up the skin fetish, you better believe there will be a review on it.
Without further ado, let’s get down to the haul! I’ll be sharing the items I bought and what my initials reactions are to them.
Becca Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation
I love the look this foundation gives me, that being said, it’s not mind-blowing enough to warrant the $44 price tag. It’s a good foundation – but that’s about it. It’s not extremely luminous nor has an over the top sheen, it just gives the appearance of good skin. Another downer for this product is the applicator: I can’t stand it! I feel like I can’t get enough product on the first time and worry how I’ll get to the foundation once the bottle starts getting emptier and emptier…
Becca Backlight Priming Filter
I’m not one to reach for primers but the name and gloominess of this one caught my eye. This primer is something I can see myself wearing on days I won’t even be wearing foundation, it gives the skin a nice subtle glow and radiance. So far, so good.
BAREMINERALS BareSkin Sheer Sun Serum Bronzer
A liquid bronzer and that too from BareMinerals. What more could you ask for. I love this stuff. It’s the perfect color, not too dusty and not too rusty. It compliments my skin nicely and shows up, which is not something I can say for every bronzer I’ve come across. This is a total win in my book so far, now if only I can find a way to apply it that I like. Currently, I’m using the BareMinerals dome brush, but I’m not loving the way this applies with that plus I feel like it’s wasting product.
Urban Decay Afterglow Highlight in Aura
After seeing all of the sneak peeks floating around Youtube I was immensely interested in this product. I love a highlight and especially a cool toned one. This pink highlight, albeit not everyone’s cup of tea, is fantastic. It looks so smooth on the skin and gives me a mermaid glow. Full review and pictures to come soon!
Hourglass Ambient Strobe Light Sculptor
I love this sponge but alas I have lost it! So no images as of now, but when I find this darling little $22 dollar sponge, it will go right back to being dipped in my aura highlight. The two are the perfect pair as the bottom of this sponge has a velvety textured patch which helps to diffuse the look of a highlight that has gone on too strong.
Bite Beauty Lipstick in Opal
This was one of those purchases made at the checkout stand that I’m so glad happened. I know it’s marketed as a lipstick, but look at this swatch and tell me this wouldn’t look amazing to spot highlight beneath the aura highlight. Am I right or am I right?! I haven’t gotten much use out of it yet but I plan on using it in a full review of the aura highlight.
I bought both of these items, the Kat Von D lolita and Urban Decay’s 1993 lipliner because of all of the hype these products have generated, but unfortunately they fell short for me. I returned the Lolita as I had too many shades that were far too similar and I returned the 1993 because I have found an exact dupe for it in my previously owned Smashbox lipliner. So ladies, if you can’t get a hold of the forever sold out 1993, try the Smashbox lipliner in Nude Medium. Practically the exact same color.
Thanks for reading! Hope you enjoyed!
