TAA: THE FUTURE

Good morning, afternoon or evening. Hello, everyone. It’s been a while.

If you haven’t read my previous post explaining my 2017 hiatus then please click here to read about where I’ve been and what I’ve been dealing with.

In that post I did say that things were getting better, and I had definitely spoken too soon. Things got much worse before they got better and I can’t even say now if things are really better – what I can say is that there is potential of them getting better. I have hope things will get better.

That post details in not so much detail what 2017 has looked like for me so far. What does the rest of my 2017 look like? Frankly, a headache. I am in my last fall semester of my undergraduate career and it’s geared up to be a busy one with my being enrolled in 6 classes, continuing to deal with a family illness, working part time and trying to keep my sanity. I knew when I saw my class roster that again my blog would fall to the wayside. I was heart broken and riddled with anxiety – how am I ever going to make any progress if I can’t commit to posting on my blog? Luckily, a solution came through. In one of my classes, I was tasked with another time consuming commitment that I was dreading – an internship. I was faced with a requirement to dedicate 135+ hours to an internship on top of everything else I have to deal with. Fortunately, my university has a great internship coordinator who suggested something I didn’t consider – to make my blog my internship. That sound you just heard? That’s a sigh of relief.

Now more than ever I literally cannot afford to not post. Now, I’m being graded on my content and receiving college credit for it. Now the blog is not something I can put lower on my priority list because of school – the two have been intertwined and are now held to the same standard. And I am so, so thankful for this.

When I first got and put up the new and improved layout to my blog – the one you see now – I introduced you to my blog. Now, let me re-introduce you, let you know how things will be from here on out and let you in a little more to my life and who I am.

Hi, I’m Amber.

My name is Amber Bains, I am a 22 year old Marketing student going to university in bright and lively Portland, Or. I’ve lived in the beautiful Pacific Northwest my entire life and am still in awe of it’s beauty. I have now worked in the beauty industry in retail for over a year now and have received training on makeup application, and gained expertise on beauty and skincare products and brands and insider knowledge on how beauty sells. I’ve also been devoted to fashion my entire life and am constantly on the look for new trends and textiles. I started this blog while at University, when I would constantly get classmates asking me how I had the time to get ready every morning, how I put together my outfits and how I did my makeup. I had the same amount of time as everyone else, I just planned accordingly, bought pieces that I knew were fool proof and easy to style, and had practiced my winged liner enough to know how to get it from fail to fleek in a couple twists of the wrist. I wanted to bring this to other girls and to my own classmates who said they wish they could do. You can. It’s easier than it seems. My blog incorporates not only beauty product reviews and testimonials, it also covers shopping hauls, OOTDs, look books and other fashion inspiration so that you can look and feel your best no matter your lack of time, your budget or skill level. This is what I love to do and I am overjoyed at the opportunity to be able to dedicate more time to it.

What to expect from The Amber Archives

So, what can you expect from me? My internship hours start this week, so that means from this point forward I will upload a new post three times a week: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. I have bought a lot of makeup whilst being gone (on the excuse that it’s for the blog) so prepare for reviews galore.

I also plan to upload fashion and beauty related content to Youtube. When and what that will be is TBD.

I also want to incorporate more lifestyle posts so that this blog is not just focused on outer appearances but also inner health and well-being. There’s more to me than a great pair of shoes and cheekbone highlight and there’s more to life than makeup and clothing hauls. I’m ready to open that part of myself up.

So there we are. This is it. Here’s to the future.

P.S. I have a very exciting post coming at ya on Wednesday. Be sure to check back and subscribe for 3 posts sent straight to your inbox every week.
