Urban Decay Smoky Palette Swatches + First Impressions

The highly coveted and long awaited newest member of Urban Decay’s megapower eyeshadow palettes has finally arrived. The Naked palettes by Urban Decay are a must-have in any beauty lovers collection and are the most highly esteemed and sought after high end palettes in the industry, famous for their neutral colors that can be worn day after day and on any skin tone. Naked 1 featured rich, warm shimmering shades like Half-Baked, Smog and Darkhorse. Naked 2 was a similar palette featuring more matte shades and cooler tones, with infamous shadows like Verve and Suspect. Naked 3 took a surprising turn with mostly rose-gold shades, Nooner quickly became an industry favorite and the black with red sparkles, Blackheart, gave the palette a new edge. And finally, the Naked Smoky Palette, a combination of satin, matte and shimmery finishes all in deeper, cooler and smokier shades.

After months of waiting and weeks of being on the hold list at Ulta, I finally got my hands on the all new Urban Decay Smoky Palette.

While I can’t do a full review yet as I’ve only had it two days and worn it once, I will do a post swatching the colors, a few makeup tutorials and then finally give a final review.

First Impressions

Urban Decay is known for its high impact eyeshadows that promise to last day after day, and are highly pigmented. However, there are two shadows in this palette whose pigment was a bit lacking, and unfortunately they are two of my favorite shades too, Radar and Password.

Radar

being one of the shimmery warmer colors in this palette, it seems like a perfect bronze shade to wear for a bronzed beach babe look, but unfortunately the swatch is subtle and the color doesn’t pick up too well on the eyes.

Password

is the coolest of the matte shades and would be a dream to cut the crease with, but it also requires some extra force to get the color to show up enough.

So Far..

As of now the palette is definitely worth the $54 price tag, featuring many never before seen shadows and many of our favorite repeats from the Vice palettes.

Thanks for reading! Hope you enjoyed!
